Armstrong/Boynton Media Center Donation Policy
We Donations!
Donations to the library media center are welcomed and appreciated. Donors of books will be acknowledged on bookplates placed in the front of books or another appropriate place in the books. In the case of large donations, donor(s) name(s) will be placed on a donor plaque.
Donors of periodical gift subscriptions will have their name placed on the periodical magazine holder.
The principal shall be informed of all gifts to the school media center.
Criteria for Donations:
- Donations are subject to the same criteria by which all other materials are selected by the library media specialist
- All materials must be age appropriate for students in grades 9-12
- Materials must be new or "gently used," with no mildew, tears, stains or defacement
- All materials must be clean and current, especially in regard to reference materials such as technology, science, medical and other resources where information changes rapidly
- Encyclopedias should be no more than five years old
- Fiction books should be no more than ten years old, with the exception of those considered "classics"
- We have a very limited amount of space, so we cannot accept magazine back issues, Reader's Digest condensed books or textbooks
- All materials donated become the property of the school library upon receipt
