March 3, 2014

Dear Parents and Guardians:

It's hard to believe that we are entering March and it is still so cold and snowy.  We have a busy month ahead of us here at the high school, so hopefully the weather will cooperate soon!

Third quarter progress reports will be issued to students on Tuesday March 4. There will be a Parents' Night on Thursday, March 6 from 6:00-7:30. If you would like to meet with any of your students' teachers please contact my office to schedule an appointment.

We will be having a lockdown drill on Tuesday, March 4th. This is a make-up drill.  A letter explaining the purpose of the drill was sent home in early February.  If you have any questions regarding the drill, the lockdown procedure, or school safety in general, please feel free to contact me.

The sophomores will be taking the ELA MCAS this month.  The ELA composition will be administered on March 18 and the ELA reading comprehension sessions will be given on March 19 and March 21. Students must demonstrate proficiency on these exams in order to meet their competency determination that the state requires for graduation.  Mr. Telicki has administered a practice ELA MCAS exam to all students and he will use the data from this exam to help provide targeted assistance to students prior to the exam.

We will also begin the scheduling process for next year this month. There will be a scheduling evening for parents on Wednesday, March 26 at 6:30. During this meeting we will be presenting the changes in the schedule and course offerings for next year.  All students, parents, and guardians are invited to attend so that we can help create the best possible schedule for each student.

Spring sports are starting on Monday, March 17.  We are using an online registration form for this season. Click here for registration instructions.  I continue to be impressed with the performance of our athletes and the support of the community for them and I am looking forward to the spring season.  Congratulations to all of our winter athletes on a great season.

Finally, the musical will be held on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 and Saturday, March 22 at 2:00 and 7:00. This spring's show is High School Musical.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the performance.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office at (978) 249-2435.

Sincerely,

Steven C. Meyer
Principal
